BOWLS AND PLATTERS

Tim's range of bowls and platters are all made using locally sourced Highland hardwoods and are beautifully finished to a high polish. The wood used is chosen for its figure and patination so each piece is unique and striking.

All Tim's bowls and platters are as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. They look fantastic either as a centrepiece on a table or sideboard, or displayed on a plate stand.

AFTERCARE

All these bowls are finished with a foodsafe blend of beeswax and mineral oil unless stated otherwise. This finish, as with most wood finishes, will mark if it gets wet. It is therefore preferable to avoid contact with water. To maintain original finish, wipe occasionally with a dry piece of kitchen towel. If you wish you can obtain 'Clapham's Salad Bowl Finish' from the Woodmith Store online at www.woodsmithstore.co.uk. This finish is simply wiped on with a dry hand, allowed to dry for a day then buff with a soft paper kitchen towel.

If you wish to use these bowls for salads etc, clean with a damp cloth (but do not immerse bowls in water) and then leave to dry. Once dry, wipe the bowl either with a food-grade mineral oil (sold as 'food-safe finish') or a proprietary salad bowl finish to prevent the wood from becoming dry.

Bowls finished with lacquer and wax are purely ornamental and should not be used for direct food use. Avoid contact with water, dust occasionally and avoid using spray furniture polish as this may remove the sealer and wax already applied to them.
